We have been curating the community of startups in Barcelona for many years now.
Since we started MarsBased, in 2014, we have bonded deeply with the communities of technology and entrepreneurs in Barcelona because we've always understood it as part of our journey. We have always been helped and we always helped back.
At the same time we created MarsBased, I started the Startup Grind Barcelona chapter. Before that, we had been running the Startup Circle for one year, between 2013 and 2014. One year later, we merged Startup Circle and Startup Grind Barcelona because they were pursuing the same objectives: create community, help others and pay it forward.
2015 was also the year in which we launched a free open-for-all community on Slack called Startups.Barcelona, or Barcelona Startups. We've never quite defined its name. You can find it here.
Because our Startup Grind events happen monthly, we wanted to give an online platform to entrepreneurs around our company and Startup Grind Barcelona to continue the conversation between events. Over the years, we've grown to almost 2000 members and we've added a paywall to block bots and spammers.
In 2016, we started curating Startup Digest. Since then, we've sent more than 300 issues of the weekly newsletter for events in Barcelona. Every week, Leire sends out this newsletter to over 2000 subscribers.
We've got more community projects, like Startup Grind Barcelona, but it's time to pass the baton on a couple of them so we can focus more on doubling down on Startup Grind and our podcast.
If you are interested in either Startup Digest or Startups.Barcelona, send us an email about it and let's chat!
