Scarier than a Friday deploy (well, almost).

[MarsBased Playbook]
Goodbye GitBook: our handbook moved into its own (not haunted) house
Our handbook lives at the same address, but it's no longer served by GitBook. Maxime rebuilt it as a static Astro site next to our website, so it now shares the website's styles and fonts and feels like part of MarsBased.
Nothing changes for readers or editors: the content is still Markdown on GitHub, old links redirect to the new paths, and every merge goes live within minutes. One less third-party dependency, and new features are now just a pull request away.

[Bonus track 👻]
What scares developers the most? We asked our team
• "Visual Basic source code written in perfect Spanish, including accents."
• "Light theme." 🙈
• "I'll stick with the classics: deploys on Fridays." 🏝

Git got ghosted: how Anthropic outgrew it
Juan Salvador shared this one: Anthropic went from around 2,500 merged changes a day in May to more than 30,000 in September, so they built Scion, their own source control system, and moved their monorepo off git in five months. Beyond the infrastructure, it's a good look at how engineering changes when Claude writes most of the code: the human value shifts to design, trade-offs and steering agents away from over-engineering.

[Security • October]
A nightmare on Env Street
Two heads-ups this month. Xavi flagged that Railway disclosed on October 21 that an attacker may have accessed customers' environment variables, and it recommends rotating every secret stored there. The same day, Node.js shipped security releases for all supported lines (22.x, 24.x and 26.x) fixing ten vulnerabilities, which Marta and Àlex flagged. If you run Node.js in production, it's a good moment to update.

[Spooky Tools 🎃]
Lorem ipsum rises from the deep
Tired of lorem ipsum? Maxime found a placeholder text generator that summons pure Lovecraftian gibberish, just right for Halloween mockups. For less eldritch options, he also shared awesome-ipsum, a long list of themed generators.

iTerm2 3.7: see which sessions are still alive
Daniel pointed out that iTerm2 3.7 shows the status of each Claude Code session right on its tab (working, waiting for you or done) and adds named, colored tab groups to keep each project together.

The fine print, exorcised
Two handy bookmarks from Maxime: TLDRLegal summarizes software licenses in plain English, and ToS;DR rates the terms of service of the tools we use every day.

[AI & Work]
The agents that never sleep
Marta shared Anthropic's report on its own workforce: juniors fell from 27% to 9% of new technical hires, and by August its agents were logging about six times as many hours as the people directing them.

[Engineering Tips]
Your Claude Code sessions will rise again
Daniel kept putting off restarting his Mac so he wouldn't lose his iTerm tabs, each one running a Claude Code session. So he put together a small save/restore with no extra tools:
• claude-save: saves the iTerm window (tabs, order and tab groups) and records which Claude session is running in each tab.
• claude-restore: after the restart, brings the window back as it was and runs claude --resume <id> in each tab, so every conversation picks up where it left off.
Both live in iTerm's Scripts menu: save before shutting down, restore when you start up again.
