In the new episode of Life on Mars, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Àlex Rodríguez Bacardit to chat with Miguel Ángel Durán, better known as Midudev.
He probably needs no introduction: he’s one of the most influential creators in the Spanish-speaking tech world, with a community of over 3 million people who learn and grow through his content.
Midu is a developer, educator, and a true enthusiast of teaching. His mission is clear: to make learning programming accessible to everyone, removing both financial and technological barriers. Through his free bootcamps, consistent content, and open-source projects, he has inspired thousands to take their first steps into the world of web development.
During our conversation, he spoke openly about what keeps him grounded: authenticity, honesty, and continuous improvement (Kaizen).
He has a very clear view of success, it’s not about algorithms or metrics, but about the real impact you create on people.
Even while leading such a massive community, he remains down-to-earth, always remembering that behind every screen there’s someone learning.
He also shared some fascinating stories, like his experience developing the website for La Velada del Año, which surpassed 10 million visits, and how he managed to coordinate more than 400 contributors in an open project.
He also left us with some practical advice for anyone creating content or starting out in the tech world:
“Don’t start on Twitch, start on TikTok or Instagram. Find your community first, and then bring them with you.”
A genuine, inspiring conversation full of insights about programming, community, and purpose, but above all, about how to keep humanity at the center of technology. It’s truly worth your time.
