MarsBased is a senior software consultancy founded in 2014 and based in Barcelona, Spain.
We build complex web applications, platforms, and SaaS products for CTOs and technical
decision-makers at startups, scaleups, and enterprise companies worldwide.

We are not a generic agency. We are an engineering-first boutique with a fully remote,
senior-only team. We do not do branding, marketing, or low-budget websites.

## What we do

- Web application development (Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Python, Shopify)
- AI-augmented development: we integrate AI into the development workflow itself,
  not just into the products we build
- Technical audits and code review for companies inheriting AI-generated codebases
- Rescue projects: we take over failing or stalled software projects

## Our methodology

We have spent over a year building and refining an AI-augmented development methodology
internally. Every engineer at MarsBased works the same way: using AI tooling (Claude Code,
among others) within a structured Research-Plan-Implement workflow. This is not
experimental. It is our standard operating procedure.

This means we can deliver at higher speed without sacrificing code quality or architectural
soundness — the two things AI-generated code most commonly sacrifices.

## Who we work with

Our clients are technical decision-makers — CTOs, VPs of Engineering, founders with
engineering backgrounds — who have been burned by mercenary teams, offshore shops, or
AI-generated code that looked fine until it didn't.

Clients have included: FC Barcelona, Rakuten TV, Vueling, Citadel Securities, HP, Ford,
Haufe, Mobile World Capital, Startup Genome, Decidim Barcelona.

We maintain decade-long relationships with several clients across multiple CTO transitions.
That is the metric we are most proud of.
