In our previous blog entry (Our Six Tips for Remote Working), we mentioned how much we identify ourselves with the culture of remote working. It is actually one of the main pillars of our company culture, and our methodologies clearly reflect the need to be able to work from wherever we want.

Actually, before that, we also wrote about hiring in a distributed team and even in our Lessons Learnt post from a couple of months back.

Two of us spent a good ten days in Berlin, the capital of Germany, and this has been our experience.

At MarsBased, we have a strongly defined company culture. We believe that in order to compete with bigger companies, smaller ventures have to define a strong company culture that attracts like-minded people.

One of our core principles is being able to work remotely. As an officeless company, we want to be able to work from wherever we are, regardless of our location or time-zone. As long as the work gets done, who cares where did you write your code from?

While you wait for the second part of our blogging guide (read the first part here), you can read our team's advice for working remotely.

Time flies. We have been so busy this year, that we have barely had time to look back to all the things we have accomplished thus far. Actually, it’s been a year and a month since we legally founded MarsBased.

One of the companies we look up to is Dockyard. They run a very inspirational blog, where they publish their experiences. This is a small homage to them and to this post, where they described the difficulties they faced during the first six months running a consultancy.

Here’s what we have learnt in this first year of operating full-time as service providers.

Last year, I completed my degree in Software Development, to begin my career in web development, I opted to go for an internship. Turns out, a good friend of mine had attended the first Ironhack edition in Barcelona, where he met a couple of MarsBased members and suggested that I applied for an internship here.

And this is how I met MarsBased. Let me tell you how it went!

It's been two months since our last status update, and we wanted to let you know we're far from dead.

After a fledging progression that has seen us completing our first projects after the summer, a couple of new big challenges have popped up. All these projects have kept us swamped with work, but they are also a reason to celebrate.

Indeed, 2014 has brought many good achievements and landmarks for our company. But none of them can compare to celebrating our first Christmas dinner.
